“I was compelled to buy your book because of the title. Allow me the luxury of describing to you why this book was such a breath of fresh air for me.
“Years ago as I was trying to wade my way through the swamps of financial comprehension, many of the principles you talk about in your book started to immerge in my mind. The problem was, however, that I could not find any information that supported my argument that even using simple interest at a 12% annual increase, it just wasn't enough to make investing, using conventional methods, make sense. After inflation and service fees the return did not constitute the opportunity cost of not having the money available. In fact, I eventually liquidated all my conventional ‘investments’ including my IRA's. (I didn't have to pay any capital gains tax because after 32 months the only ‘gain’ was an additional write off due to losses.) I decided to put my monetary contributions towards my company instead. No one I know agreed with that decision but I was convinced to do so anyways.
“I also decided about that time to start getting up earlier in the mornings and reserve the time to read and study for at least 1-1 1/2 hours before I left the house for work. I was inspired to do so after reading Maslow's hierarchy of needs and realizing the need to self actualize. I am sure the results of my last 2 years of investing time and money into myself and my business will not surprise you but it was certainly unforeseen to me.
